Movement as Medicine: A Powerful Prescription for Health
This group education visit discusses the importance of moving! In today’s society, it’s all too easy to be sedentary. Without the proper motivation and tools, it can be hard to know where to start with an exercise plan. Better understand how movement impacts epigenetic signaling, how to start and progress an exercise plan based on current health status, the benefits of movement, and how to stay motivated to maintain movement as one of the most powerful prescriptions for health.
This group education visit is by appointment request only via the Patient Portal for Aspen Health members.
Essentials of Immune Health
This group education visit discusses how to build and maintain an intelligent and strong immune system. By exploring the microbiome, stress, environmental triggers, detoxification, and inflammation, we can better understand the key lifestyle choices necessary to defend and repair our bodies from harmful triggers that lead to immune suppression and increased risk for autoimmune diseases.
For Aspen Health members by appointment only. Reserve your spot via the patient portal as an appointment request.
Healthy Weight for Life
This group education visit discusses obstacles to achieving a healthy weight and maintaining it for life. By exploring inflammation and detoxification, we can recognize patterns and long-term effects of unhealthy behaviors. Understanding the pitfalls of diet fads and excessive calorie restriction will help embrace lifestyle choices that create lifelong, optimal body composition and chronic disease prevention.
By appointment only via the patient portal.
Restoring the Balance: Stress Hormones and Health
This group education visit discusses the negative effects of chronic stress and its connection to major chronic diseases. We discuss the connection between healthy vs. unhealthy stress perception, stages of general adaptation, and optimal hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis function. With these tools, we can better understand the power of recommendations emphasizing glycemic regulation, sleep hygiene, exercise, and hormone testing.
For Aspen Health members only. Schedule via the patient portal in the “My Appointments” section.
GI Foundations: Heal Your Gut, Heal Your Body
(For members by appointment only)
This in-person group education visit discusses the importance of healthy gastrointestinal (GI) function and how healing the GI tract can improve many chronic conditions. We discuss key concepts of increased intestinal permeability, chronic GI inflammation, food allergy/sensitivity/intolerance, proper elimination, and the use of hypo-allergenic diets for gut healing.
Protecting Your Heart: The Blood Sugar/ Blood Insulin Connection
This group education visit is designed to teach you why and how a low-glycemic, anti-inflammatory diet is essential for protecting the heart and improving insulin sensitivity. Emphasis on nutrition and practical physical activity are the cornerstones of the lifestyle approach to disease treatment and reversal.
For Aspen Health members only. Request a seat by going to the “my appointments” section in the Patient Portal.
Advanced Prevention for Cardiovascular Disease
This group education visit explores how lipids, inflammation, genetics and lifestyle contribute to atherogenesis and cardiovascular disease development. Discussion of the benefits of advanced testing and proven nutrition and exercise advice help to understand an advanced prevention approach to cardiovascular disease risk.
This event is for Aspen Health members only. To request and reserve your spot, go to the “My Appointments” section of the Patient Portal.
The Secret to Wellbeing
This group education visit discusses how to build and maintain metabolic reserve. We are often caught in a cycle of disease crisis, in which we are grappling with persistent symptoms and flare-ups of chronic illness. Rather than manage our symptoms with prescriptions and traditional medicine alone, we can implement targeted lifestyle measures to help increase our metabolic reserve, disease resistance and overall wellbeing. This not only reduces the impact of our health concerns and risks at the moment, but also improves our quality of life for years to come.
This group visit is in-person only at the Princeton office location and is only available to members of Aspen Health. A seat can be requested in the “my appointments” section of the Aspen Health Patient Portal.
No Pain, Total Gain
This in-person group education visit discusses the lifecycle of pain, where and how we feel pain, and why pain persists and doesn’t resolve for many. By exploring the underlying factors causing pain, we will better recognize patterns and long-term effects of unhealthy behaviors. Understanding the pitfalls of medication dependency and how poor nutrition, lack of exercise, high stress, and inadequate sleep all contribute to poor healing and chronic pain, we will embrace lifestyle choices that create lifelong, optimal health and chronic pain prevention.
For Aspen Health members by appointment only. Go to the Aspen Health patient portal, “my appointments” to reserve a spot.

Carotid Intima-Media Thickness Testing
Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) testing is a simple non-invasive tool that assesses overall cardiovascular health by measuring the thickness and quality of atherosclerotic plaque using B-mode ultrasound.
More than 50% of individuals who die of a heart attack or stroke have no warning signs or symptoms
50% of individuals who die of a heart attack or stroke have normal cholesterol
CIMT testing caught 98.6% of heart attacks and strokes before they occurred in a 10-year, 100,000 person-year study
Over 14,000 peer-reviewed journal articles support the use of CIMT testing
CIMT testing is more accurate and a better predictor of future events than are the carotid duplex (Life Line Screening), stress echocardiogram, angiogram, and nuclear stress tests
CIMT is recommended to be tested every 1-2 years for anyone 40 years of age or older or at any age with family history of cardiovascular disease or personal risk factors.
CIMT testing is only available to Aspen Health members and is performed in the Princeton, NJ Aspen Health office location. To reserve an appointment for this test, request a time in the “My Appointments” section of the Patient Portal. Only a few remaining appointment times are available so reserve it soon.
The cost is $325, unless you have the Blue or Green plan and choose to use the CIMT as your included annual test. The test takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. If you have any additional questions, please send a secure message to Dr. Benson via the patient portal or discuss at your next appointment.
