The Secret to Wellbeing

This group education visit discusses how to build and maintain metabolic reserve. We are often caught in a cycle of disease crisis, in which we are grappling with persistent symptoms and flare-ups of chronic illness. Rather than manage our symptoms with prescriptions and traditional medicine alone, we can implement targeted lifestyle measures to help increase our metabolic reserve, disease resistance and overall wellbeing. This not only reduces the impact of our health concerns and risks at the moment, but also improves our quality of life for years to come.

This group visit is in-person only at the Princeton office location and is only available to members of Aspen Health. A seat can be requested in the “my appointments” section of the Aspen Health Patient Portal.

Carotid Intima-Media Thickness Testing
Mar

Carotid Intima-Media Thickness Testing

Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) testing is a simple non-invasive tool that assesses overall cardiovascular health by measuring the thickness and quality of atherosclerotic plaque using B-mode ultrasound.

More than 50% of individuals who die of a heart attack or stroke have no warning signs or symptoms

  • 50% of individuals who die of a heart attack or stroke have normal cholesterol

  • CIMT testing caught 98.6% of heart attacks and strokes before they occurred in a 10-year, 100,000 person-year study

  • Over 14,000 peer-reviewed journal articles support the use of CIMT testing

  • CIMT testing is more accurate and a better predictor of future events than are the carotid duplex (Life Line Screening), stress echocardiogram, angiogram, and nuclear stress tests

CIMT is recommended to be tested every 1-2 years for anyone 40 years of age or older or at any age with family history of cardiovascular disease or personal risk factors.

CIMT testing is only available to Aspen Health members and is performed in the Princeton, NJ Aspen Health office location. To reserve an appointment for this test, request a time in the “My Appointments” section of the Patient Portal. Only a few remaining appointment times are available so reserve it soon.

The cost is $325, unless you have the Blue or Green plan and choose to use the CIMT as your included annual test. The test takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. If you have any additional questions, please send a secure message to Dr. Benson via the patient portal or discuss at your next appointment.
